Friday - dec. 30

Well the plan for the day was to work...then run to st.George with kev and get ideas and possibly a date....away from kids......then check on the house and go to the hotel and slip slowly into madness........

Instead I woke at 3 am to tinkle and noticed Tara was not in the room....so I began texting kev, tan, and Tara in the other room to see if she was there.....no answer. So I got up and as I got almost shoes....kev texted she was fine and with them. Well I was up and my brain was running so I blogged and did some bills...ate breakfast and got a call from our housing to go to thenfront desk, get the fax, sign the lease, and fax it back....did it but noticed the deposit amount was wrong...called her...fixed it....signed it..and faxed it! That rental is ours on Monday!

Went to work....rocked it...

But of course, when I was done their was four voicemail calls to return. A lady asking if we need her rental....thanks a lot lady, could have used you last week! A sun city lady wondering if the cricut she lent me was ok....well she was concerned sbout me too......the r.s. Pres. wondering how I was doing.....and the orthodontist telling me I owe $216 for Taners retainer.

Joy and rapture...made the calls and headed to the house. The work crew was leaving when I got there and these Tongan boy's Hair was white....(I thought, hmmmm that's weird) so I entered and wow....now I get it...the air throughout the house was white and powdery....they have been tearing out tile. That also explains the dirty snarling look they gave me. We did a little sledge hammering ourselves and decided that was for the young strong ones so we bolted. Kev and I headed to st George and first stop....drop off piano bench to piano gallery because they have my piano and need to fix the bench too. Maybe it's me but I didn't get warm Fuzzies when I drove up and the sign was off the building and the windows were painted with STORE CLOSING! My piano wasn't there....it is with the piano mechanic Stan......this is getting better and better.....but alas the guy inside turned out to be from tim's ward! Also in the Polynesian choir that sang at jordans homecoming....whew it felt good to know someone. He assured me all is well and we left.

After checking the clearance of boulevard home furnishings showroom we decided we would get better quality from d.I. So we went to the cabinet guys showroom. The heavens opened and we not only saw what we want on display but we actually agreed.....freaky huh? Walnut cabinets with a black glaze to make them look distressed and a granite with tons of noisy specks of black, dark brown, tans creams and I can't even remember......all I know is I learned a lot today and I am so glad I went......

We paid a visit to boulevards main warehouse in hurricane and actually found two very decent matching dressers for Kate and talia that had been repossessed and we talked her down to a great price! Wrap them, pack them, and run away! Then problems arose when I walked by the clearance appliances.....a fridge with the freezer drawer pull out on the bottom and the French doors fridge on top.....a $2700 fridge for $1600....putnit in hold......waiting for insurance money so we shall see......ran to lowes to price match and yep it was a steal! Saw a $1200 dishwasher on clearance dfor $800....then guy said it has been sitting there a while and if we call and talk to the manager he may go down.....I will make that call on Monday. I know I need a really really good dishwasher more than I need a new fridge but $800? .....ouch! We shall see......

So weird thing....right? We flood, work our tails off, deal with major losses, depression, Christmas, new years, hotel life, people feeding us because we went broke on eating out, one disappointment after another and next thing you know I'm shopping like a mad woman! Well I am an eyring thru and thru and we are as cheep as theycome so the buyers remorse has already set in and the guilt and fear.......humbled myself by stopping by the house before going to hotel....doesn't even feel like home anymore. Feels really really weird.

They got the tile up from the kids' bathrooom.....oh dang....grab a Petrie dish and make me a science project! Not cool.....really really want to go buy a bottle of clorox ands dump it in there. Wendy kept my kids and fed them and I thank her so much for it! My kids are loving running from hotel room to hotel room.....room 233 to room 230 .....I wonder if the rooms in between notice? This is the most fun they have had there whole spring break........bring on the complaints.

Forgot to mention

We have a large industrial sixes garbage bag of dirty clothes and Wendy took it and has been doing our laundry for us! And when we were at her house we just sat there...like...we arebreally in such a coma that we didn't even register that she is buzzing around doing OUR stuff....thanks sis!

And Shari in Heber has had her ways of helping out too! Some I am probably not even aware of but I am grateful to have sisters!

Love you guys! Well, girls!

Thursday dec 29

Well....here we go..... Got up early and drove to sun city, left my timesheet on my bosses desk and used the treadmill there. I did 5 miles! It took 50 minutes......but I did it! Man that sucked but felt so good too.....a little stop at walmart for a charger for my I pad and off to hotel to get ready for the day. Ins lady at 9am.....thank heavens for Tara! Yesterday I just gave her money and they walked across the street and got microwave meals. Today she can drive them to Wendy,s so they have a place to play.

Turns out that the ins lady is prob at least 10 years younger than me, from Gilbert Arizona, and very very nice. We went over our coverage and the legalities and walked thru the house....she wants even the tile and the sub floor of the second story to get yanked....you should of seen the guys face when she told him that....he did not want to pull up that floor. Later mynhouse was crawling with people and more destruction was in progress. Went over the "wet" container with her, pitched those couches in the dumpster a long withnhalf of my life. But moms armoire seems to be drying out and a furniture medic will come get it and the kitchen table, sand them down, and refinish them. The burgundy couch from mom.....service master can clean it up I hope.....we will see. Treadmill and anything electronic is a goner, along with the in wall ,speakers and kevens surround sound....he priced the in wall subwoofer out....called the company.....650 for that beasty! The list rolled on and on and we thought we were done. She walked around taking pictures and I made some phone calls. Then the hammer came down when the housing lady called and said we could not get into the rental until mon or tuesday! oh my gosh! So the ins. Lady said get another room and you guys can spread out more....I don't care how much it costs but your daughter shouldn't be sleeping in a coffee table. Called the hotel...sold out! Duh....ita new years weekend! Fine....I will spread kids out and give us some space. The list of items being claimed grew and grew and then the hotel called with a cancelation! Yay!

After an exhausting 4 hours with all that I went to Wendy's and saw my kids. Just hanging out ....sitting there like bumps on a log, won't eat, just watching t.v.....I have to get these kids out of here and do something fun. But wait, gotta run to walmart and burn all the Picts to a cd for the ins. Lady.....always something! I got pizza with the debit card the ins. Gave me and we hung out at Wendy's. Even got to have our puppy for a while. He,s gotten bigger! Such a stinker now and needs a bath. Can't wait till next week. Stopped by the house on our way to a friends house for dinner.....contractor #2 showed up giving the spill on how he knows how to handle the restoration.....the ins. Lady also brought a contractor with her. Didn't know I was going to have to pick.

Well whatever...Jim and Joann bun yea fed us an award winning chefs dinner of four inch meatballs, garlic lemon and capers chicken, brocilli, salad, and even skinny cow ,for dessert. Headed back to the house to take care of a few things, discuss some wild and crazy changes we would love to make and back to hot el for kids to watch t.v. While I go thru a huge stack of mail and bills. Oh those don't go away? Weird! Didn't get to bed till 10:30 which is super late for me. The final straw was yet another fight between talia and Kate and I know these walls are thin at this hotel so prob lucky that c.p.s. Wasn't called but let's just say....we didn't have family prayer last night!

I need to sit down with my husband...without any kids or other opinions around and talk about what to do.....if the tile in the kitchen is coming out.....that changes everything! Now......I start from scratch just like I am building a new home.......help I need a designer!

Oh and by the way....our dude that is gutting the house "Ryan" was kind enuf to tell us that our tubing that goes from the water mana block throughout the house was recalled like ten years ago. It would be very stupid if we didn't replace it all wile the home was bare bones. Oh and that will be about two grand out of pocket. Sweet holy goodness.....I have a sneaky suspicion that it ain't over yet.....start me a tab at the bar boys! Well....the home depot anyway.....

Life....day 1

Wed. Dec 28th....I was nervous today to go back to work. Haven't taught for a while and didn't know if I still had it and I would be seeing all my ladies at sun city and dealing with all the emotions involved with explaining what happened...etc. I don't know if you saw tangled with rapuntzel but all the emotions she went thru when she left her house was basically the kind of day I had. I got a whopper of a swollen pimple on my face to prove that large amounts of cortisol are being produced and released into my blood stream. (I am typing this on my I pad so it is a mess)

It has been a week since the flood and I think instead of naming my blogs flood day 1....etc. I am accepting that this is my life now and the worst is behind me. So now it is just dated so I know what happened and when. I can't believe it is the last week of2011. The lastvweek of my kids Christmas break....bummer for them! They seem to be dealing with things ok. More of just not saying anything because they know we are going thru a lot. Kate frequently returns to hr baby stage....talia has started bullying Kate....Tara is trying to be patient with them but I know deep down she is saying....I'm so out of here soon! Taner,s motto of never try never fail is now his dream come true, Jordan should be home soon....help! In 2012 Tara leaves us, taner gets his license, talia is in young women's, and Kate will be a year from baptism. Wow.....what a perfect time for a over haul on the house.

My rapunzel day started with me waking and getting ready in the hotel room and trying not to wake anyone up since we are all inn the same big room basically. Where is the coffee table? I put all my stuff I needed on the coffee table..... Then I found it....apparently no one will sleep with Kate...they put the two chairs together with the coffee table in between and made a bed for Kate. I love my kids but we have been together since Christmas break started and I would love to have my own space, and some privacy, and a bed for my daughter....oh
well......it's an adventure. I went around the hotel room and cleaned up, started a garbage pile, picked up dirty clothes, cleaned the table off,
ya know basic stuff. I was determinee this was going to be a good day and I was happy. I was in a good mood and felt great. I stopped by
the house to make sure the doors were open, ofncourse why would we lock it, everything of value is out on the patio.

I meet with the ins. Adjuster tomorrow....the house is gutted....I just wanna know what all this is going to cost me. I want to move forward and be excited to pick things and have a better idea of what I have lost. After a few moments at the house I'm off to work. I went like an
hour early because I don't have a computer right now and I need to submit my time....handwritten or whatever.....everyone was so nice!
Asking what I need and what happened and ya know what? It was fine....I didn't totally crumble and when class started I just got right back
in the groove and started doing the dances and it all came back. Great day! And I needed it....I needed the workout, the friendship and love,
and the confidence to know I hadn't lost my physical fitness completely. I have gained at least 10 pounds with not running and eating lots of
comfort food but I am starting to run again and teaching classes again will help. I figure...the new year will be my starting point.

After work the smile was turned upside down when I learned that the people in the rental home we are waiting for, still hadn't signed their docs to move into their home so they can get out of the rental.....Grrrrrr. I will be in the hotel through new years weekend if don't hurry up!
Had a heated and emotional conversation with wendy about all that has happened this last week. It's not worth even typing here but it did
get me to really letbgo of some welled up tears after we hung up.

Well no time for misery and woe....taner,s retainer is packed away somewhere in that storage pod and I'm not about to let 4 thousand dollars worth of dental work go to waste so off to st George to the ortho for a molding of the teeth for a new retainer.....might as well make it worth my while and check out some furniture. If you have ever been to the boulevard home furnishings they have a really fun showroom. Even an eatery...it's like a mall of rooms and furniture. We sat on every couch in there...to bad we only liked the really expensive ones. Well off to the back of the showroom for the clearance stuff. Some pretty good deals in there. I had all thebkids with me and just let them jump on the mattresses and do wgphatever theybwanted. It was quite fun. Took a bunch of pictures...talked to a few people and off we went....got an ice cream and headed home.

Stopped back by the house....wow...feels like a shell, feels small and totally different. Young womens p.j. Party tonight....where are my p.j.s? Oh well....borrowed Tara,s and all 3 of us girls got to go together this time! Kind of a fun and relaxing night......needed that.

Later I went thru every flood picture and the pictures of each room and made a detailed list of everything to talk to the adjustor about tomorrow, not exactly my idea of taking a trip down memory lane....I can't believe how much stuff is just gone. It's gonna be interesting tomorrow.....went to bed early (9) with plans to make sure I got in a run in the morning so I could be more mentally prepared for the day.

Oh and at young women's one of the leaders had her baby there. This baby was born with something wrong with her heart....had to be life flighted just minutes after birth, open heart surgery, all that time and months in the hospital without her momma and 3 other little siblings, and the mom.....wow....all that she went thru, her baby gets whisked away from her right after birth and she,s told she might not live, all the months of traveling to salt lake, the worry, and trying to either deal with the other 3 little ones or having people constantly watch them, and nursing? Forget that. Her baby has oxygen tubes taped to her face and has to keep them there for a long long time, and the mom has to take the baby everywhere and constantly watch her and worry......so I'm counting my blessings tonight and grateful for my flood.

Flood - Day 8

Tuesday - December 27th

Must get a run in today, must, must, must. So off I went, well first i went to the house of course, one more load of laundry, then button up the washer, unlock the house for the crew, and leave a note as to my whereabouts, and well ya know.......its like when a woman says she is going to bed, 10 things get done on the way! And off I went!

I got 2 miles out and my phone wrang and it was the call I've been waiting for - HOUSING! So I had Tara come get me, maybe I got 3 miles in.....I doubt it. Went and saw two houses. One is empty and ready now, the other will be empty and ready in two more days. UGH! Of course we want the one that isnt ready yet, it has 4 bedrooms and a great back yard. The other only has 3 bedrooms and the whole back yard is a pool - no fence. Not gonna work with KAte. Sooooo - 3 more nights of hotel, we can do this......... off to the house.

Yep as I suspected, the gutting crew was there, turns out it is 5 tongan guys from the Pine View Football team. We walked in and started hauling sheet rock out to the dumpster, insulation, you name it. And they let us rip some walls down. We got all the ceilings pulled down and my kids started disappearing. I ordered pizza knowing that no matter how much I ordered it wouldnt be enough but I hadnt planned a budget for feeding workers so they got some bella pizza and were happy. I sent my kids off to get the puppy and I continued to make phone calls and ocassionally gut more of the house, or haul off a thing or two. We filled the huge diesel sized dumpster before lunch so as it got delivered again, we filled it up again. All cabinets out and all walls had to go. I got a bit emotional when I gutted the kitchen walls because I could hear the guys in the laundry room trying to get out the tile counter top that Keven and I had built, they were cussing that counter and I was like, HEY! We built that counter from scratch! But I just took it out on the wall, everything was so wet, it was easy to pull down.

Finally the sun went down and we couldnt work anymore! How do guys use hammers all day? My hands hurt all the way up my arms. Keven showed up and we discussed the possibilities and changes we would LIKE to make.... and then we headed to the hotel.

Dinner? Jack in the box and a hot shower!

Blessing of the day: Friends of mine from Sun City found me. They drove around in my neighborhood until they found the house with the big dumpster.....not cool. Anyway - they are making us dinner Thursday night and i am so excited. These guys are in charge of the fine dining club at Sun City so I cant wait! They could cook mac and cheese and make it taste gourmet at this point!

Im drawing a blank for a scripture today, maybe I;m just so tired I cant think. I'll try again tomorrow. May the giggling after the lights go out, be pleasant and minimal......nighty night

Flood DAy 7

Monday Allready? My how time flies. December 26th and its gonna be a great day......Keven is off but I had to work except i got a huge huge blessing....I went into work and they said they had canceled all my fitness classes until Wed. I hugged the lady at the desk and ran off to do all I needed to do.

First things first, I must contain all our stuff to one place. We have stayed at 6 different places in 6 days and I feel like we have stuff everywhere. I borrowed tons of large clear totes from a girlfriend and went to the last place we stayed, and began to contain the madness. The thing is when people do laundry for you, or you spend all day doing laundry.....that laundry has to go somewhere.....and without a dresser, or bedroom, or even a car at this point since all the cars are full already, where to put it all. Well it helped a ton to organize it into totes and move it into our travel trailer. Then we still have all the boxes that our friends packed for us that say "hotel" which is great except I didnt know about them so they have been wandering between Kevens truck and Cliff's house so by noon on Monday it was accomplished. The cars are packed to the gills, and Cliff's house is empty and clean. Now we are contained to one place, the hotel. Yay!

the house? Well Keven spent all day at the house clearing off the back patio....moving 4 wheelers, and fridge and all that stuff. When I got there we finished doing laundry and clearing the rest of the house to the travel trailer, tomorrow a crew shows up to gut thehouse. Exciting huh?

So awesome - 2nd blessing of the day - The Johnsons had us over for dinner and it was so awesome to sit in a chair, not have to cook, or clean up, eat, visit, and leave. Sloppy joes never tasted so good. After we got back to the hotel we hit the hot spa for a spell, watched a little t.v. and hit the hay!

Its really quite funny when you turn the lights out and you are all in the same room still, the kids were laughing at Kate's funny comments, and Taner was threatening her not to touch him while they were sleeping. She ended up sleeping with Tara and Talia instead.....poor thing. We did finally have to holler - BE QUIET! But it was fun to hear their voices with a close distance. They are all we have right now. They say that Death and Taxes are the only things you cant avoid but family is a pretty big one.

Missing my puppy, but so grateful that we are staying in our friends Hotel, she is taking great care of us.

Tomorrow will be another day! Like it or not.

Just a little thought 2 nephi 2:22 - Sometimes when you have it good , you have to fall, to know how good you have it...... I'm grasping for straws here........

Flood Life - Day 6

Sunday - December 25th - MERRY CHRISTMAS!

It feels like we are celebrating all our birthdays at once like 3 months after our birthdays. I cant really describe it. Well, it turns out that even though we woke the kids up to get ready for church, they had already gotten up in the night to see what santa brought. So we ate our cold cereal and off to church we went. Tried really really hard not to fall asleep and thank heaven it was only sacramanet meeting but Kate crashed hard on my lap and I struggled, as did all of us. But we then came back to Tim and Sue;s and I crashed. They fed us a breakfast quiche and now everyone is napping. Mentioned the whole in the countertop to Keven, that was interesting. What was I expecting?

im spending time on the computer looking at countertop and cabinet combinations, really shoudl go lay down.....kids want to take puppy for a walk but that has to be supervised so I guess I will go do that.

I'll record more later, I'm sure its really dumb but I have to journal this all somehow so dont read it if you dont want to.

Flood - Day 5

Saturday - December 24th - Merry Christmas Eve!
(disclosure statement:please remember when reading this, all that I am going through, and the fact that genetically I am suppose to medicate and dont, running is my medication and that has not been happening)
Well it doesnt feel like Christmas, I cant find anything when I need it, I have spent more on food in the past 5 days than I should in a month.....And that is WITH the ward members providing a couple dinners, my couch is the drivers seat of my car, my kids think we are still on vacation, I am more tired and sore than if I not only ran a marathon, but as if I had done a full Ironman Triathalon, my husband and I agree on nothing, and I broke down when someone asked me what my address was.
But anyway - today is gonna be a great day! I woke up after sleeping like a baby and decided the best gift I could give myself was a run! I gathered my shoes, jackets, and what running gear I could locate and I headed out. I ran to Walmart because of course I have to get two birds with one stone, and had my daughter meet me there. Only about 4 miles but finally at the end of the 4 miles I started to feel like me again. Maybe that 1/2 marathon that I signed up for is still possible? I did some last minute christmas shopping which consisted of 2 things and then spent over $200 on things that we needed that got packed away, like, toilet paper, body wash, salad, razor for my legs, hair stuff, and some girly basics.....$200??? Really?? Its so much funner to shop when you dont NEEED stuff.
Well, due to timing, I had to ride home with my daughter instead of jog home but oh well, that will have to do. We got back to the house we were staying at and oh boy, what a mess. I had to start cracking the whip getting everyone to pick up their beds, and their messes. Thank you to Heather Walters for bringing that spaghetti the night before, there was enough for lunch today, saves me about $30 to $40 each meal! We had a family discussion on how to spend Christmas Eve. My brother Tim and his family in St. George had taken all of our Christmas gifts and wrapped them, stuffed our stockings for us, and planned a late birthday party for Talia so we had to go to St. George. If we stay overnight with them, we can keep our cute little yorkie puppy with us.....if we come home tonight and have Christmas Eve here in this house, we get to be together just our family but we dont get to have our puppy with us. We opted to be spoiled by my brother and his awesome wife Sue and their 5 great kids! They made a list of the things we had, wrapped them and numbered them and stuffed our stockings with our favorite things! What a blessing! We got to their house in St. George about 3pm and had Talia's bday party, then we ran to have a little dinner party with Keven's family, very fun. Then we came back to Tim's and both families watch The Grinch while Kev and I figured out how we wanted to do things.....Well, fought about how to do things......thanks for turning the t.v. up loud, sue! We all slept together in one room (made it kinda hard to sneak around but we managed). And really it was so nice to have a nice simple Christmas, the basic p.j.s and one gift. Stuffed stockings and cold cereal. So nice.
Im finding that its not hard to fall asleep, the problem is staying asleep, and if I wake, getting my brain to shut off with all that is going on. Where is this, what about Monday, what happend to kates books, where are the back packs, I really need to get the dirty clothes out of my car, will I ever get a warm bath again? I wonder if I can have one of those cool wholes in the counter top to throw garbage in?
And then there is the marriage part. Isnt this where the man just looks at the woman with the look that says, "I love you and I know we are going thru a lot, just pick whatever you want for the kitchen and carpet....." because really, does it matter? But no! Every time I say one little thing about what I want, he is like, No, we're not doing that. And he fights with me! I cant even beleive it! Like I want purple paint or something! I mean I asked about moving the kitchen sink.......just a question, i mean we have talked about some of the things int he house that we dont like and I just thought this would be a good time to consider how to make that happen, and he just got beligerant like I was asking for the moon........Well ya know what, some guys would be offering the moon after all of this! Dork! I know there is a lot more to moving the kitchen sink than I even realize but communication bucko! Not just flat out jerk mode........I swear Im gonna need medication to save our marriage not our house!
Okay on the other hand, I have to take into account that he has been very understanding with everything else. We are both very very tired, and stressed and are living out of our cars, and worried about the effects of this, as well as the out come. Its Christmas time and basically we are hating life, so, all that included, I guess I could realize that their will be a few fights. I love you honey but trust me, just let me pick the cabinets, counters, and flooring I want........you dont have to stand in the kitchen all day. And I'm sure he is thinking, oh my gosh, she is picking carpet and cabinets already! They havent even gutted the house yet! But really, what else can I do? I know that if I do my homework now, and research all I can about colors and combinations that I will be better able to make a decision later.....besides, what does it hurt to let me talk about it and think about it, we all have a different way of processing things and thinking abou the next step is what is getting me through all this....... patience.......I gotta have patience. Something my mother did not pass down to me.
Merry Christmas Eve!

Flood - Day 4

Friday - December 23rd

Happy Birthday Talia!

Got up early, dressed warm and jogged a whole big bag mile to the house. Havent run in days, feel like a big fat slug and have gained 5 pounds. Lets not even go there! That is a whole different blog!

Opened the house for the crew, started doing more laundry, and going thru wet papers. Found all the birth certificates, lets play music books, and a bunch more....started them out drying and gathered more things that I know I will need once we get the rental which we are hopeing will happen today. Looks like a 3 bedroom in Shadow Hawk or a 4 bedroom in Falcon Glenn. just waiting for the ok about the 4 month lease. Asked to be switched out of Virgin River but it was tooo late for tonight but got a great rate from an awesome friend at Budget it for the Family suite so we can feel more together for Christmas since it looks like we wont be ina house until next week.

Left the crew to do their thing while we took Talia to a movie for her birthday. Dont see "We bought a zoo" if you are immotionally unstable. It was awesome but I bawled the whole time. then went and got our puppy for a while, he's soo cute, we miss him! Back to the house, sore, tired, lost my voice completely, tara continues to get fever and chills if she doesnt stay dosed up, Kately has a bbelly ache all the time. Talia's bday and she smashed her ankle somehow and has a big bruise. All Taner wants to do is drive since he has his permit. So we sent the kids to the Taits to hang out and give us a minute at the house with out any kids. Finished up with the crew, house is empty, fans and de-humidifiers going like crazy, Everything is out but the fridge's and the washer dryer and when the holiday is over they will be back to demolish the lower floor. The piano is being picked up by the piano gallery to see how bad the damage is and to see if it is fixable. The fatigue is setting in pretty severly and we dont really even care about much right now but..... What's next? I dont know.....keep doing laundry, find a place to live, and get my shoes on and run till the pavement ends! We couldnt handle the Virgin River tonight so we are at a friends house. He is out of town and gave us free rein and we are loving it! The kids have wii and guitar hero, and we have a table for kate to do playdough, and chairs to sit it, and a fridge for the milk, and showers, and I got to shave!!!! yay!!! and beds, and I cannot beleive how much I have taken for granted. But dang all the Christmas goodies, dang, dang, dang. I might actually have to re-join Weight Watchers for the new year! Gotta get a handle on it, gotta focus! gotta get back to work!

So on this wonderful friday night, we sit here as a family, just chillin! Dont take it for granted people. Thanks to Heather Walters for bringing us dinner and to Overton Power for depositing Keven's check early so I could go buy all those things I cant find.

Tomorrow? Saturday - gotta get some miles on my legs, take the Kids to St. George because cousins have a party planned for Talia, also a Hansen Christmas Even party, and then back here to sleep because ITS OUR LAST TIME FOR 8AM CHURCH! Now that is something to party about! I love the gospel and the teachings of it, and my Savior for all he has done for me but I have hated every single sunday of 8am church. I'm only human. We didnt miss a sunday but we were not on time once either.

That being said, good night, and may tomorrow be a beautiful Christmas Eve for us all!

Flood - Day 3

Woke up, sore, and still tired. Got dressed and went to the house. Figuring my kids would know where we were and my teenager would figure out that she needed to get kids up and dressed and fed for the day. Later found out that she spent most of the day on the neighbors couch with fever and chills, and cramps and the flu. Really? Is this really happening? I forgot to mention that our puppy got kind of pawned off on the Tait family and they have fallen in love with him and we will probably have to pry him from their fingers when this is all over, which makes me so sad that I am missing his puppy days and he loves them back but ever so grateful that that all worked out.

Went to the house by 8am and started with a bright light at the end of the tunnel. The cabinet guy was there and he basically told me that my cabinets were the best ever all the way down to the hinges which were at least $50 each and I could basically come to his showroom and pick whatever I wanted! I felt like I won on a gameshow for a few minutes. Got to make some changes that I've always wanted to change and that was kinda fun.

then I remembered that the week before I told a Sun City friend that I would help her brother move into his home so I gather my son, daughter, and Lane Tait and off we went. It took us over 2 hours to unpack the uhaul and I was more sore and tired after all that, then everything else. But it felt good to server. You should have seen "ryan" laughing when I told him I would be back in a couple hours, because I had to go help someone move. He was like "are you serious?" "do they have any idea what your going thru?" "I said, nope, see ya in a couple hours"

Grabbed some lunch at our loved Bella Pizza and then reality hit when "linda" said, hey can you come here please......and walked me out to the "wet" storage pod and showed me basically every piece of furniture that I owned was wet and gonna be put in the dumpster. Dont get me wrong......I am D.i's biggest buyer and I'm proud of it, our beds are from D.I. but our couches arent. They were new about a year and 1/2 ago but started falling apart. We called the company but they were out of business so we have hated those couches all along, not to heart broken there. But my mothers couch, and heirloom dresser and MY TREADMILLL! NO!!!!! She assured me it would all be replaced and in the back of my head I'm like - yeah right - I know how this works - I get a prorated price of what they determine the value to be which basically means I gotta buy a new treadmill with 1/2 the money. she said that my ins. company is really good to work with so dont worry about it.......I'll have to keep you posted in the end about all that, but anyway.......on the spotlight part of that - my mothers very expensive victorian furniture did not get a drop on it! An angel got very wet helping us out there!

So as the crew finished up the downstairs packing and i tryed to sort thru all the "stuff" like wet backpacks, and shoes, and clothes, and stereo's, and wii, and dvd';s, and all of it has to be written down, and itemized, and basically I have a 60 hour a week job for the next 2 months cut out for me.....not cool at all. And the laundry? Ew! Stinky rotten water laundry, coming out my ears but yet another bright spot!!! My new washer and dryer are fine and getting their workout!

Stayed the night at virgin river, not impressed, but so tired and stiff and sore and dealing with sick kids, that are tired too. We didnt care. We took hot showers and slept hard.

I know I'm forgetting tons of stuff. Like how many phone calls and careing and concerned people are. Once again, we are very humbled, and proud to have such great nieghbors, ward members, family, and a caring crew, and a great ins. company. Still looking for a rental, no one will do the short term. But hoping to sweet talk someone soon.

So basically its all trashed, fine, I'm over it. Today, the crew packed out my whole upstairs, boxed up my whole downstairs and we made arrangemnets for hotel and started making calls on renting a home for 4 months. Lesson learned here: If I would have gotten the ball rolling on this sooner, I could have gotten us into a house by the time Christmas came but not only was I not even aware that Christmas was sneaking up on us but I wasnt aware of the time frame we would be out, or the fact that insurance was getting us a rental.

So - by thurs. night we

Flood - Day 2

Wednesday - Dec. 21 (normally I would be going to work, preparing for young womens, and this week is Talia's 12th bday and she joins young womens!)

I called work yesterday and the were very understanding and willingly canceled my classes so I had one less thing to worry about. Woke up early and headed to the house to prepare for the madness. And it was. The head guy "ryan" introduced us to "linda" my new best friend. They brought a pack out crew and basically told me they would be packing every square inch of the house up. 2 giant storage pods would be delivered within the hour and in each room, the dry and wet stuff would be separated. The dry would go in one pod and the wet in the other - to be gone thru to see what was fixable and what would be claimed on insurance. Our ins. had okayed a complete demolition of the bottom floor and 1/2 demo on the upper floor. I started boxing stuff and he said, you dont need to do that, they are doing all that, you come here and lets talk. And we did. We talked about the smells, the floors, the walls, the demo, the replacement, the time period, and everything. Basically they had it all under control and would consult us when they needed a decision made. We spent the whole day there at the house making decisions on this and that, and tossing lots of stuff. The entire upstairs was boxed by the end of the day. Even down to the empty tilex bottle......... dont ask.

At 4:45 the R.s. brought an amazing dinner to the nieghbors and fed both our families and then i remembers that me and the young women were suppose to ring the Salvation Army Bell at Smiths Grocery at 5pm. So off we went. It was so good to get out of that house and everything that ws going on and sing some carols and spread some joy. Later someone gave us a giftcard for Walmart to help us with our expenses. What a blessing! And the young women even came after to help us haul boxes down the stairs and into the storage pod. See you serve one and many serve you back, its awesome!

Well we split up the family and crashed at a few different houses that night. The insurance said we could get a hotel but we werent mentally prepared to make the decision during business hours and ended up wherever we could go. soooooo many people have offered us their homes, their food, their love and helpl and support and I am so amazed at the awesome community we have! With all the stress and for me, not being able to run or workout, we feel a lot of soreness, neck stiffness and a little bit of the flu settling in. We crashed pretty hard that night but Kev and I both woke at 3am unable to sleep and talking about what we were going to do about Christmas, Talia's bday, and other things like, WHAT COLOR CARPET were we going to put back in? I wanted to close my eyes so bad, go back to sleep and wake up and have it be 2 days back and this never happend.......but I wasnt so lucky........i did however remember to pray and thank my father in heaven that we were all safe and we didnt have to spend Christmas iin the hospital or anything horrible like that , and that we had insurance, and for the gospel in our lives to give us the understanding that its really all just STUFF.

Flood - Day 1

So its Tuesday Dec. 20th about 4pm and we started trying to get the water out. Scooping, sweeping, mopping and nothing was working. I told Keven to stop and call the insurance company, they were still open and took care of us right away. They called a company but they were busy at other jobs in Panquitch and Kanab and said they were pulling guys from there but it would be a few hours. They sent a guy that came and started sucking water up with his big machine but as the night rolled on we realized that wasnt gonna cut it. I pulled open my drawer in my kitchen and it was completly full, so was the next, and the next, and the next. Even the pans in the bottom cupboard were full of water. The ceiling was starting to fall and he looked at me and stepped out and made a phone call. I caught some of the conversation....something like "worse than we thought" and "your gonna need more guys than that" and "nope its a complete demo". So I realized, we were gonna have to leave for a while. I facebooked that my house flooded and if anyone had any boxes I would love them. Pretty soon like 5 ladies showed up with boxes and tape and started boxing up my kitchen. I was in shock, love, humiliation, I dont know. Anyway - i sent my kids and the puppy next door and got to work. Pretty soon, a crew showed up and kicked everyone out and basically spent the night ripping out all possible flooring. About 10:30 we decided that was all we could do for the night and we slept at the neighbors with the kids.

Note to self: Thank Tim & Sue for coming from St. George and taking pictures like crazy and helping me "think". They told me to pack for 3 months. Get what you need for work, etc. for 3 months. Well I thought I did that but now we dont have retainers, contacts, razors, and basics like advil & toilet paper. Also, thank all those women that came in the night and helped. And all the ward members that hurried home from stake temple night to rescue me. And thank the Tait family for willingly adopting our puppy.

Wpw its been a long time!

Has it really been that long since I posted last. Darn it, and this was going to be my journaling. I guess I'm gonna have to catch up. I got on here today because I have had a big event happen in my life and I want to blog daily about it so I can look back later and see all the things I've been thru and be grateful. So here we go:

Its Christmas time which is always intersting.....waiting for the kids to be out of school, planning and preparing for christmas and the new year, thinking about what to make for everyone, and our upcoming life. For instance, our kids are getting bigger so the Fisher Price toys dont cut it anymore....well I guess for Kate it would. But Tara is going to college soon and Taner is in high school so our thoughts have turned to NEEDS rather than WANTS. Tara NEEDS money and all Taner WANTS is money.....Talia, well, she's turning 12 but still wants Lalaloopsy......

Santa did bring us a new teacup yorkie Dec 10th so that has been exciting for us BUT Long story short, we didnt get pd. till the 24th so we havent done any shopping which oddly enough turned out to be a blessing.

The weekend of the 18th we went to Mesa to see a nephew come home from his mission and let the kids have a few days with the Mesa cousins. WE love it there and its always hard to come home. So of course we waited till the last minute to come home Tuesday Dec. 20th. We went to St. George to pick up our puppy before we came home to Mesquite and when we drove up in the driveway we immediately knew, something was wrong. There was a big puddle in the driveway and that doesnt happen unless there is a leak.........we jumped out of the car and ran to the door. Water was coming out of the seams of the walls and the front door out on the sidewalk and we knew we had trouble.

Our worst fears were confirmed as we opened the front door and stepped into 2 to 3 inches of water. We could hear water running but were sure from where. It was "raining" from the sheetrock on the ceiling so we knew it was upstairs. I ran up the stairs and the kids' bathroom was spraying water everywhere. After I got through the spray I found the hose behind the toilet was the culprit and reached down and turned the main supply for the toilet off. For a second I just stood there.....I could hear everyone freaking out and yelling and I just stood there in shock or denial or wahtever.

And then the mayhem began........
